Friends is seeking an Executive Director (ED) who is an entrepreneurial leader with solid nonprofit management skills, fundraising experience and expertise, and a demonstrated ability to successfully manage dynamic, collaborative and partner-driven programs. Experience and knowledge of conservation issues – ideally, understanding of water management, riparian restoration and community outreach about watershed issues – is required. The ED must be capable of working with a team of experienced and passionate employees, board members, volunteers, and community partners to transform Friends’ mission and vision into action and successful outcomes. Friends is seeking a Communications Manager responsible for the development and implementation of communications strategies for Friends of Verde River Greenway. The Communications Manager will be the lead staff overseeing media relations and public affairs, message development and marketing in support of Friends’ programs and events, web site and social media development and management, and strategic outreach and engagement with vital stakeholders for Friends’ programmatic efforts. The Communications Manager will have supervisory responsibility for two staff members and a VISTA volunteer, and is a full-time, salaried/exempt position. Friends is seeking a new team member to manage their Verde River Exchange program. The program manager would be responsible for recruiting business participants to the program and helping represent the program to business leaders, Verde Valley residents, elected officials, and other local stakeholders; managing water offset transactions, contracts, and projects with program participants, water users, and partner conservation organizations; managing the programmatic budget, grant proposals and reporting to support the program; and coordinating, managing, and administering other aspects of program implementation and development.
The Exchange is an innovative voluntary water offset program, developed and run by Friends, along with local partners. This is a full-time, salaried/exempt position. Applications should be submitted by September 8, 2017.
Friends is seeking a Field Assistant to provide support to Friends staff with the coordination of contract and volunteer field crews conducting habitat improvement projects throughout the Verde Watershed. Specifically, the Field Assistant is responsible for assisting the VWRC Field Coordinator with day to day logistics, transporting and operation of wood chipper, crew training, quality control, record keeping and data entry. This a full-time seasonal, hourly position. Applications should be submitted by August 31st.
AZ Conservation Corp is hiring for the Fall/Winter field season in the Verde Valley. Join our team that works to restore riparian habitat throughout the Verde Watershed. AZCC works with a variety of land management agencies in Arizona. Projects vary but will primarily entail invasive plant (tamarisk, Russian olive, Giant Reed) treatments and removal through safe chainsaw operation. Other duties may include trail construction and maintenance, ecosystem restoration, habitat restoration, fire fuels reduction, fencing on public lands, invasive weed removal, tamarisk removal, and herbicide applications.
